Wireless Headphones With Radio
Wireless headphones do not use cords to connect to a music source. Wireless headphones operate using a
transmitter base that connects to the music source. A radio amplifier and receiver are built into the headphones to
receive the music from the transmitter base. There are two types of wireless headphones -- the cordless kind which
operates on radio waves, and the infrared wireless headphones.
Infrared headphones cannot transmit over as long of a distance as wireless headphones. Normally one can only
move a short distance away but not into another room. However, there are some wireless headphones that allow whole
house coverage. Cordless headphones allow a much wider range of movement. When shopping for wireless headphones,
look for ones that have a built in volume control. This makes it more convenient by not having to go and adjust the
volume at the base unit. Most wireless headphones on the market today are Dolby enabled, unlike headphones that
operate using cords. The Dolby technology gives much clearer audio than other headphones.
When shopping for wireless headphones be sure to try them out before you buy them. Check to make sure you can
hear the music properly and that the headphones fit your head comfortably. Some stores keep headphones in the
packaging and do not allow people to try them on. However, there are stores that have a rack of headphones
available to try out. If you decide to buy your headphones online, choose a popular name brand that you know will
have the right fit and audio to suit you. Most headphones are either adjustable or are one size fits all.
There are several models of wireless headphones available and each one has a different weight. Be sure to look
for models that are lighter, especially if you wear your headphones a lot.
Most wireless headphones use batteries. If you use your headphones a lot, buying regular batteries can get
expensive, so your best bet is to buy rechargeable batteries. This way when the batteries run down you can recharge
them instead of buying more batteries, which obviously will save you some money in the long run. The better brand
wireless headphones have rechargeable batteries in the base unit that occasionally need to be recharged.
There are four styles of wireless headphones -- sealed, ear bud, open and canal. The ear bud style is one of the
cheaper styles and can actually lead to hearing loss with extended use. The open style can slightly reduce the
sound quality of your music. So if you are shopping online for your wireless headphones, there are a few things you
need to consider. Infrared wireless headphones are not affected by electric appliances like a plasma TV. Wireless
headphones that operate on 95 Khz infrared frequency are perfect to use in movie theaters.
If you plan to use wireless headphones for watching a plasma TV, buy ones that operate on 2.3 MHz frequency. The
big plush headphones are more comfortable. However, they are not made for extended periods of use since they tend
to heat up. So again, if you are going to use your headphones a lot this is not the style you should buy. Once you
buy your wireless headphones, always keep them as clean and dry as possible. Be careful where you use them,
especially around a swimming pool or Jacuzzi.
There's a wide price range for wireless headphones and you might be tempted to buy the most expensive ones, but
consider how you will be using the headphones and look for features that will best suit your needs. One important
thing to remember is that most types of wireless headphones are susceptible to a slight hiss whenever the sound is
digitally encoded before transmitting, but the voice quality is always better.
If you are the type that enjoys listening to music while exercising or performing your daily household tasks,
then wireless headphones are your best choice.
